Safety First

You must read this manual before using this product.

Check The Weather

Understanding the weather is a vital part of staying safe on the water. Being caught out in changing or poor weather conditions may lead to serious injuries or death.

• Always have a good understanding of your local weather conditions and forecast.
• Always have a safe exit plan. If weather conditions change, ensure you can always get back to a safe landing spot.
• Always return to the beach if there is a significant change in the conditions. i.e. wind dropping or wind & waves increasing.
• Learn to use this product in light winds, No more than 15 knots (28kph) winds. We recommend you use a wind speed indicator to measure wind speeds accurately.
• Never use this product in winds higher than the recommended size maximum.
• Never use this product in wind conditions that are above your ability level. • Never use this product in thunderstorm and lightning conditions.
• Never use this product in offshore wind conditions.

A Safe Location

Knowing your surroundings is a crucial part of staying safe on the water. An unsafe location may lead to serious injuries or death.

• Never use this product in crowded areas or near other people. Spectators should remain upwind of you when using this product.
• Never use this product near airports, streets, power lines, rocks, trees, buildings, vehicles, piers, boats, breakwaters, or any other structure.
• Always have a safe exit plan. If weather conditions change, ensure you can always get back to a safe landing spot.
• Always observe local rules and regulations when using this product.
• Be respectful to all water users; keep a safe distance.
• Never go further from the shore than you can comfortably swim.
• Practice self-rescue techniques before using this product near the water.
• Be respectful of all marine life.

Safety Equipment

• A Helmet must be worn when using this product. Ensure the helmet meets the safety standards for your environment.
• Wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device when using this product near the water.
• Keep warm with the right wet-suit for the conditions.
• Protect your skin and eyes from the sun.
• Protect your feet from sharp objects with adequate footwear.
• Never permanently attach yourself to the product or any of its components.

Learn The Basics

All adventure water sports carry inherent risks but with common sense and education, you can easily enjoy these sports safely.

• Before using this product you must take lessons from a certified instructor/school.
• Closely monitor your well being. If you are getting cold or fatigued immediately return to the beach and take a break.
• Never go out alone.
• If you get into trouble on the water, try holding onto your equipment for extra flotation and visibility.

By using this product the user fully understands the inherent hazards and dangers that may lead to serious injuries or death.

• Misuse of this product can cause serious injury or death.
• Before using this product you must take lessons from a certified school/instructor.
• You are responsible for your safety, and the safety of others around you when using this product. • Never use near power lines, airports, streets, rocks, trees, houses, vehicles, including boats, bystanders or any other structure. •Observe the weather conditions and do not use this product in thunderstorms, offshore, overly strong or gusty winds.
• Carefully inspect all of your equipment before every use.
• Only use this product if you are in good physical health.
• Do not use this product if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• If you are under 18 you should have your parents or legal guardian read these warnings and instructions. You should not use this product unless you are under proper guidance and supervision.
• This product is not a personal flotation device. Always wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device when using this product near the water.
• Always wear the correct personal protective equipment such as a helmet and a personal flotation device when using this product.
• Never allow anyone who is not familiar with this product to use it without experienced assistance.
• This product is equipped with user operated leash release systems, which need to be activated by the user to work.
• Never permanently attach yourself to the product or any of its components.

Pump up

Safe area - Find a area clear of obstacles and shape objects.
Secure - Connect the pump leash to the surf wing while inflating.
Air pressure - The correct air pressure will help keep the surf wing shape. We recommend 9-10 PSI.
Condition - Check leading-edge, canopy material, and air leaks. If you find any damage it must be repaired before use.
Secure - With the leading edge pointing into the wind connect the leash to something secure like the board. 

Use

REMEMBER TO FOLLOW ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Switch products are made to take a beating but there are a few things you should avoid to increase the life of your product:

Rocks, Shells and anything with a hard edge can damage.
Sliding the on sand and grass can wear and damage materials.
Waves and water pushing onto the product can damage it.
Left stored pumped up in the sun and wind for long periods of time will damage materials.

Pack up

Dry- Completely dry. If you have to roll up in wet conditions dry as soon as you can.
• The best way to dry is to reinflate and left to dry.
• Unroll and left on flat ground and left to dry will also work.
 NEVER hang your kite or wing un-inflated.
Safe area - Find a area clear of obstacles and shape objects.

 

Care

Following these care tips can significantly increase the life of your kite or wing.

CHECK

A regular quick visual check can help pick up issues before they become problems. The best time to perform these checks is when setting up and and packing up your gear.
Things to look for:

Uni pump system - Are all valve seals in place and all uni pump hoses free of damage and connected securely.
Bridle lines and attachment point - Are are lines free of damage and attached correctly.
Leading edge and canopy - Holes, scratches and damage from crashes.

STORAGE

Always store dry and in a cool place away from UV light and any harsh chemicals.

DAMAGE

If you have crashed or rubbed against a hard or rough surface check for damage immediately. If damaged get it repaired before you use again.

Switch Kites International Release of Liability

Release of Liability , Claim Waiver, Assumption of Risk

By assembling and/or using this Switch product, you agree that you have read and understood the entire Switch product manual, including all instructions and warnings contained in that manual, prior to using the Switch product in any way. You agree to ensure any additional or subsequent user of your Switch product will read and understand this Release of Liability, Claim Waiver, Assumption of Risk before using any Switch product prior to allowing that person to use your Switch product.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK. Use of the Switch product and any of its components involve certain risks, dangers and hazards that can result in serious personal injury and death to both the user and to non-user third parties. In using this Switch product, you freely agree to assume and accept any and all known and unknown risks of injury to you and third parties while using this equipment. The risks inherent in this sport can be greatly reduced by abiding by the warning guidelines listed in this owner manual and by using common sense.

RELEASE AND WAIVER OF CLAIMS. In consideration of the sale of the Switch product to you, you hereby agree to the fullest extent permitted by law, as follows:

TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that you have or may in the future have against Switch Kites and all related parties resulting from use of the Switch product and any of its components.

TO RELEASE Switch Kites and all related parties from any and all liability for any loss, damage,injury or expense that you or any users of your Switch product may suffer, or that your next of kin may suffer, as a result of the use of the Switch product, due to any cause whatsoever, including negligence or breach of contract on the part of Switch Kites and all related parties in the design or manufacture of the Switch product and any of its components.

In the event of your death or incapacity, all provisions contained herein shall be effective and binding upon your heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns, and representatives. Switch Kites related parties have not made and expressly deny any oral or written representations other than what are set forth herein.
