Is this kite right for you

If you live in an area where the winds aren’t always strong or you can’t drop everything whenever windfinder is looking good, the Helium 2 will allow you to enjoy kiting on those light-wind days.

What's new?

The new Helium 2 is a refinement of the original Helium. Most notably, we've added a new 15.5sqm size offering a greater range of options for light-air riders. We've slightly modified the leading edge tube to re-align the wingtip and provide a more robust structure for quicker response and improved stability. We've also added a rear steering line which engages the trailing edge at the wingtip strut upon maximum bar movement. The steering line improves turning and powers the kite up substantially without compromising the Helium's excellent stability and light bar pressure. In particular, reverse and standard re-launch are enhanced. The new Helium2 provides dependable light-air riding with surprising agility.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

3-Strut Design

High Aspect (span squared/area) high projected area maximizes lift while reducing drag for efficiency and upwind speed and angle. 3-Struts reduce weight and provide sufficient canopy shape to create power without distortion.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Constant Curve Leading Edge

The canopy shape is supported by a defined constant curve leading edge design without any flat sections. This allows reduced tube diameters and associated drag in a rigid and extremely efficient structure.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Fixed No Pulley Bridle

The LE geometry at the wingtip allows a fixed no-pulley 6-line bridle. Stability, direct turning, de-power and re-launch are maximized for ultimate control of the power and performance.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Rear Steering Lines

The new Helium2 has rear steering lines to the T3 wingtip strut ends which increase turning speed, power and relaunch response. Now, a large light-air kite that is quick and responsive.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Trailing Edge Flow Control

Light weight, 4 layered internally glued Monofilm stiffeners are strategically placed along the trailing edge to increase efficiency by minimizing coning and eliminating trailing edge looseness.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Power Wingtips

Fully swept wingtips optimally place the front and rear tow points providing more leverage for turning and sheeting with lower bar pressure. The rear steering line tow point location provides reverse launch and increased re-launch leverage in lighter winds. The forward power line tow point location improves de-power.

Canopy Material

Produced from TECHNO FORCE/T9600 – the best rip-stop available worldwide from Teijin Fibers LTD.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Leading Edge Material

We use Dimension-Polyant Dacron exclusively. Dimension-Polyant Dacron is the only sailcloth manufacturer with its own ultra- modern sailcloth-weaving mill and a unique finishing plant where the fabrics pass through a 14-stage program. Weaving, finishing and laminating – all in one location, made in Germany. It’s the most stable and durable structure that ensures the designed shape is retained for ultimate performance.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Double Dacron Strut Joints And Valve Positions

All stitching locations on any struts are internally reinforced first with Dacron and then adhesive-backed Mark Cloth to ensure the stitching doesn’t compromise the material. Strut seams are double stitched with a larger thread. Strut attachments are reinforced with webbing and all valve positions have extra reinforcing to prevent blowouts under high pressures and crashes.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Glued and Overlaid Seam Construction

We glue and double stitch the seams. One straight stitch folded over would be much faster and cheaper to produce but it’s simply not as strong.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Framed Canopy

Fully glued canopy framing of Dacron and adhesive-backed Mark Cloth for extra strength along struts, leading edge, trailing edges and wingtips.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Reinforced Strut/Canopy Attachment

We added an additional layer of Canopy material and a doubled angular reinforcement at the Leading Edge in all strut areas to create a solid foundation for our struts and reduce impact failure during high velocity crashes.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Canopy Attachment

We use two rows of zigzag instead of one row of three-step zigzag like most others. Every hole in the leading edge weakens the structure so they must be spaced out as far as possible. Two rows are time consuming and more expensive to produce but add ultimate strength.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Bomb Proof Leading Edge Closure

Double-reinforced with Dacron, the LE seam is fully glued, double-folded and double stitched with an exterior webbing cover for ultimate strength and durability. Extra heavy thread is used to protect against ruptures and blowouts.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

TPU Double-Seamed Bladders

One is good. Two is better. We use two parallel seams on our durable TPU bladders, plus reinforced valve locations.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Rub Pads And Bumpers

Lightweight abrasion-resistant rub pads wherever you need it during set up, launching, landing and packing.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Uni-Pump Rapid Inflate/Deflate System

Pump up faster with our efficient high air flow valve and uni-pump system.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

5th line/ pump attachment

Used to a 5th line set up? No problem, we supplied the attachment point. It can also be used as a pump leash.

Kitesurfing Light wind Kite Helium 2 - Switch Kiteboarding

Custom Tune

Customize your bar pressure, de-power throw and turning speed to your custom settings by adjusting your rear line attachment points.

I've been riding HeliumV2 15.5,18m for about 10 months. I usually can ride on from 8-10 knots using18m with 5'6"surfboard.HeliumV2 is very powerful, but handling is very light. Also It has excellent stability and good relaunch performance, so I use 15.5m at beginner's school on light wind condition.HeliumV2 is a large size kite which can be easily used by anyone from beginners to experts. I think that it is more controllable and more stable than HeliumV1. (Posted on 26/01/17)

I'm riding the 15,5m Helium in the lowest wind speeds (+5/6 knots) for foiling and it is a amazing how easy the kite stay in the heaven. I had a lot of experience with bigger kites (from no struts,up to five) and the choose of the three at this kites works perfectly. Also the second attachment point of the backlines improves the turning speed a lot and the kite feels from the turning speed much smaller even with the power from a big ones. I use the kite also for low wind freestyle which also works perfectly. The relaunch is pretty easy :)
If you are searching a nice low wind kite the Helium would be the right choice. (Posted on 26/01/17)

The new Helium 2 is a kite all the riders should definitely have!!
I'm a 75 kg rider and with my 18 m2 Helium I can ride even on 5 knots and do even all the freestyle tricks that I can do. The first time I took my helium2 to the kite beach everybody was shock because of the size, but whoever touched and saw the easy way it was launched with almost no wind, were in shock and telling me they could not belive the kite is so light!!! and yes, it is really light and fast.
In the past years I had what it supposed to be a "light wind kites" in 17,16 m2, but most of them had some big problems like impossible launching and banding from the tips, heavy construction or not enough depower, but with the Hellium 2 I can say I really meet a real light wind kite, with a perfect depower range even when the wind picks up suddenlly letting you to ride in comfort, an with absolutely all the caracteristics somebody could wish from a kite.

18m Helium 2 is a sessionsaver!Review by Robert
I can easily say that the 18m2 Helium 2 is the best lightwind kite I flown so far. Low bar pressure, easy relaunch and perfect for unhooked tricks. Previously lightwind kites I tried or had are Best Ts, Slingshot Turbine, Ozone Zephyr, Cabrinha Contra, Best Roca and for me the Helium is the best.

Besides easy and forgiving unhooking and relaunch it has nice floaty jumps and hangtime. Going upwind is easy and as my previously experice with switch the quality is really good.

The best thing about this kite in my opinion is that it is good all around. You can take this kite out in really light wind and progress with your tricks, just cruise around or boost some floaty jumps when the wind picks up. (Posted on 18/10/16)

hi guys,
finlly the right wind to test my Helium 15m
Wind was not very stable, it went from 10 to at the gighst 15 knts to fall back to max 10 knts.
I have 82kg dry and used an Airush Sector 54 3 fin setup.

First of all the kite hangs very stable in the sky, not a lot one must do to keep it in the air.
The overall turning speed is not slow, faster than most flysurfers and other lightwind tube kites.µ
Barpressure is very light and even when tacking upwind with the sector, the depower works great, and you will always have a light bar at hand.

I gave it over to a friend, and omg, he dropped it where he did not have any ground under footh...and there it showed what a good starter this kite is, the extra line that goes fron the front line connection towards the first strut end...does it work well it tweaks the kite a bit , and in the pretty low wind we hand ( he nearly had no weind pressure enogh to come onto the board) he just managed to start the kite out of the water.
He told me he had flown many lightwind kites ( flysurfer, Cab etc) but never hand a better kite than thisone in his hand..
He told me they should make them in all sizes like this because in the small sizes it would make a great wave kite( Method?? Bill?? ;) )

I am pretty happy the way it flies, yes it does not go pretty deep forward into the wind window, but I never came into trouble with the Sector which goes upwind pretty well in the light conditions! just pull some depower and your gone..
I added just one thing, I made an extension on the depowerline "pullball" so you do not have to reach that far anymore to grab it...it makes life easier on the Sector board as you trim when going upwind.
SO all in all, for the ones that are looking for a great lightwind kite, that might have some super large Twintips and or lightwind directionals...you can get going so early it is fun not to have to go on a much bigger kite.
Last remark, self landing was as easy as could be.
All in all a very good lightwind kite, soft on the bar, long and good depower way to bring you home safely in case the wind picks up all of a sudden, very good starting out of the water in absolute lightwind, nice turningspeed...easy on your body and soft on the bar.

cheers

Helium2 18m
Been surfing Belmont Shores, CA with it about 3-4 times now and after getting used to it, I am liking it more and more.
It is a great kite for low wind conditions. One session I was the first one out as the wind was slowing strengthening and people after me lost their kites in the water or were having to work it hard to stay afloat so it was nice to see this kite had superior performance.
Then a few days later, again in low wind conditions, I kited for 1h40 minutes till the end of the day and was the last one to come back to shore in very low wind conditions. This kite was a champ. Now that I am used to it, can even start jumping and have more fun with it.
It does get a bit more challenging in strong wind conditions since the kite starts pulling me a lot more but I am so glad I bought it for those smaller days when I can now comfortably go our and have a blast! (Posted on 28/09/16)

The Helium 2 - 15.5 is perfecrtly designed kite and is a lot more stable than I thought it would be. Got it last wednesday and used it that day in 10-12 knots no problem. Really easy to Launch and Land in very light winds. Wind dropped to near 8 knots and was able to land with ease. Great construction and materials used.........My first Switch kite and obviously not the last.

I had the first Helium and I hated it and returned it. (With no problem)
So to stay true to my brand I sold my 17 meter Slingshot Turbine and got the New Helium.
I must say It pulls me (230lbs) right up, it turns and handles better than any light wind kite I have ever flown. Bill did a great job on this one. (Posted on 6/06/16)
Exactly What I Hoped ForReview by Jeff
I bought the Helium 2 15.5 right when it was released but just had my first chance to fly it today. Wind was steady around 12-14 mph in Maryland. Riding on the Bay and using Noblile XTR 143. The kite was simple to launch and felt very stable in the sky. Really decent response from a light wind kite and turned well. Much to my surprise, I was able to boost way more than expected. Super happy with the purchase. Kite feels bomb proof and is great looking in the sky. (Posted on 28/05/16)
